VBS 2017 Letter

Dear First Presbyterian Church Family and Friends,

This summer we are going to pair up with our friends at the Central United Methodist Church to create an awesome VBS experience for our children ages 3 to 5th grade!  VBS will be June 12-16 from 9am-11:30 daily and it will be at the Central United Methodist Church located at 201 North Market Street!

As a partnering church we are going to help with funding of supplies, food donations and providing volunteers.  Our volunteers can be youth in Middle School, High School and College, and Adults.  If you are interested in being on the planning team, decorate the weekend before VBS, be a crew leader or lead an area during the week of VBS, please let Jenny Braundmeier or Ann Lenox know by calling the church office or signing one of the sign-up sheets located at First Presbyterian Church.  You may also call the church office! (641-673-8879)

All of our children, friends of our children, friends of our church and grandchildren are welcome to attend our VBS with Central United Methodist Church.  It is our hope that in pairing up with another church like Central United Methodist Church, our children will grow in faith in a broader community spirit and form new relationships with other believers who want to discover their strength in God!  At VBS Hero Central, we will become Heroes and explore how to serve God and God’s mission for our lives.

After a high-energy opening assembly at Hero Central, the Heroes make their way to the Bible Story Headquarters. Interactive Bible lessons reveal Hero Codes to equip our Heroes for an active life with God. Our Heroes will discover a Hero Verse (Bible memory verse) that will remain with them in their faith long after VBS. Our children will expand on what they’ve discovered by participating in a variety of activities: making their own art projects at Craft Headquarters, singing new songs at Hero Central opening and closing, exploring the wonders of creation at Science Headquarters, playing games at Recreation Headquarters, and enjoying tasty treats at Snack Headquarters. Along the way, the Heroes will hear about our mission project and respond to a call for action!

As we begin a new chapter in our children’s ministry at First Presbyterian church in partnership with Central United Methodist Church, we look forward to watching our children grow in STRENGTH with GOD and continue to serve HIM!
